Tudor House Medical Practice – Practice Nurse (Maternity Cover)
We are looking for a qualified Practice Nurse to provide flexible, temporary cover for a maternity leave starting early September 2026, preferable commencing mid‑August. The role will last up to 12 months and may involve varying working patterns – full‑time, part‑time, or flexibly scheduled.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver core primary care services: childhood immunisations, adult vaccinations, cervical screening, chronic disease management and joint clinics.
* Provide joint clinics with a Diabetic Specialist Nurse (monthly) and conduct home visits (2 visits per week, requiring a car with business insurance).
* Support infection prevention & control and assist with audits, training and compliance reporting.
* Coordinate travel medicine services and request/interpret pathology tests.
* Offer routine nursing care and manage acute and chronic conditions, including wound care, venepuncture, ECGs, and medication review.
* Assist the GP and other clinical staff in minor surgery and urgent care.
* Maintain accurate clinical records, SNOMED CT coding and chronic disease registers.
* Advise patients on medication use, lifestyle and health promotion programmes.
* Facilitate safeguarding and public health initiatives and liaise with external agencies.
* Participate in quality improvement, audits and evidence‑based practice reviews.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Nurse (Nursing and Midwifery Council) – essential.
* Experience working in a primary care or community nurse setting.
* Experience with infection prevention & control measures.
* Desirable: experience with elderly and housebound patients, quality initiatives or chronic disease management training.
Clinical Knowledge & Skills
* Wound care, sutures, staples removal.
* ECG, venepuncture, new‑patient medicals.
* Immunisations (routine, childhood, travel) and cervical screening.
* Travel medicine and chronic disease management (diabetes, hypertension, CHD, asthma, spirometry).
* Abiding by PGD and other local policies.
* Use of SystmOne clinical IT system (training available).
* Strong IT competence.

Contract Details
Salary: £20–£24 per hour. Contract: Fixed term, 12 months. Working pattern: Full‑time, Part‑time or Flexible.
