Do you have what it takes to join one of South Wales' leading IT Support companies? As an IT Field Tech at Orbits IT, you will provide support to our clients and work on projects both internally and for clients.
The IT Field Tech will represent Orbits IT on-site at client locations, providing hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. This is a client-facing, field-based role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, configure, and maintain servers, desktops, laptops, networking equipment, and peripherals.
* Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
* Perform on-site repairs and replacements of faulty equipment.
* Conduct system upgrades, patch management, and preventative maintenance.
* Collaborate with remote support teams to escalate and resolve complex issues.
* Document service activities, configurations, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
* Provide guidance to client staff.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, SLA targets, and health & safety regulations.
* Travel to client sites as scheduled and manage onsite logistics.

Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certifications:
* Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent
Experience:
* 2+ years of hands-on field support or on-site engineering experience.
* Proven track record installing and supporting Windows operating systems.
* Demonstrated experience with LAN/WAN networking, VPNs, and wireless technologies.
Technical Skills
* Proficiency in troubleshooting PC hardware, servers, and peripheral devices.
* Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS.
* Experience with Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365, and virtualization platforms ( Hyper-V).
* Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions.

* Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
* Attention to detail and methodical problem-solving approach.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
* Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive company vehicle or personal vehicle.
Physical & Travel Requirements
* Ability to lift and transport equipment up to 25 kg.
* Comfortable working in server rooms and confined spaces.
* Up to 80% travel to client sites; overnight stays may be required.
