Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Planned Maintenance (SHDF Project)

A leading Tier 1 property services contractor is looking to appoint an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Planned Maintenance division in Dartford. This role offers the opportunity to work on a major Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) project, delivering retrofit and energy efficiency works to scattered properties under a long-term contract with L&Q.
This position is ideal for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with 4+ years’ experience who is ready to step up into a Quantity Surveyor role and take on greater commercial responsibility.
The Role
Working closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager, you will support and gradually take ownership of the commercial management of planned maintenance works across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the commercial management of planned maintenance and retrofit works
* Support with cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting
* Manage subcontractor procurement, valuations, and payments
* Prepare and review interim valuations and final accounts
* Monitor project costs and identify risks/opportunities
* Assist with variations, change control, and contract administration
* Ensure accurate financial reporting and record keeping
* Liaise with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors
About You
* 4+ years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role within construction or property services
* Experience in planned maintenance or social housing projects (highly desirable)
* Exposure to SHDF, retrofit, or decarbonisation projects (advantageous)
* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
* Eager to take the next step into a Quantity Surveyor position
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar (preferred)
