About the Company
Our client is a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP) specialising in delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and compliant connections solutions to the UK electricity distribution network. With a strong track record in designing and building substations and associated infrastructure, they support developers, contractors, and utilities in connecting projects of all sizes.
As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Business Development Manager to join the team and drive new opportunities in the HV sector.
The Role
Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, developing, and converting business opportunities. You will work closely with clients across renewables, housing, industrial and commercial, and infrastructure sectors to position the business as the go-to partner for independent connections.
Key responsibilities include:
* Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within the UK substation and ICP market.
* Building and nurturing strong relationships with developers, contractors, DNOs, and ICP partners.
* Leading the sales cycle from initial enquiry to contract award.
* Working with technical teams to prepare proposals, tenders, and commercial solutions.
* Monitoring market trends, competitor activity, and policy developments to inform business strategy.
* Representing the company at industry events, meetings, and networking forums.
About You
We are looking for a proactive, results-driven professional with:
* Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within the electricity connections, ICP, or substation sector.
* A strong understanding of the UK power distribution market, including DNO/ICP processes and regulations.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results.
* A commercial mindset with a technical appreciation of substation projects.
