Proofreader
We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Proofreader to join our Design Team. You will be the final quality gate for all learning and development content before it reaches our clients, ensuring every piece of work is polished, professional, and error‑free.
You will review a wide variety of materials — from e‑learning scripts and facilitator guides to technical handouts and on‑screen copy — checking for spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency, and overall readability. You will also assess the logical flow and coherence of content, flagging any areas where meaning is unclear or where the learner experience could be improved.
Key Responsibilities
* Proofread and quality‑check all learning and development content produced by the Design Team, including e‑learning modules, workbooks, facilitator guides, presentations, assessments, and video/audio scripts.
* Identify and correct errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
* Review content for logical flow, clarity, and coherence, ensuring it reads well and supports the intended learning outcomes.
* Ensure consistency of tone, voice, style, and terminology across all materials, in line with client brand guidelines and internal style guides.
* Check formatting, layout, and visual consistency where applicable.
* Maintain and contribute to internal style guides and glossaries, particularly around automotive‑specific terminology.
* Liaise with instructional designers, graphic designers, and subject matter experts to resolve queries and suggest improvements.
* Manage multiple concurrent proofing tasks, working to agreed deadlines without compromising quality.
* Support the continuous improvement of quality assurance processes within the team.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a proofreader, copy editor, or quality checker, ideally within a learning and development, publishing, or content production environment.
* Exceptional command of British English spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
* A sharp eye for detail and a genuine passion for accuracy.
* Strong understanding of how written content supports learning — an ability to assess whether material flows logically and communicates clearly to the reader.
* Familiarity with common style guides (e.g. Oxford, AP, or bespoke client guides).
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
* Strong communication skills — confident in providing constructive feedback to writers and designers.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and comfortable working with tracked changes and commenting tools.
Our Ideal Candidate Will
* Be flexible, organised and focussed on achievement.
* A creative thinker.
* Have strong interpersonal skills (within a client‑facing environment).
* Have strong facilitation & presentation skills.
* Have a positive attitude with a can‑do approach to all tasks.
