SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Portsmouth
Pay: £13.75 per hour (Paid weekly)
Contract Type: Term Time Only, Monday to Friday

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to work in specialist schools across Hampshire. These settings support SEN and SEMH pupils aged 4-19 with a range of additional needs, including:
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Attachment disorders and trauma
Physical disabilities and mobility needs
Anxiety or school-based phobias
Communication and speech and language difficulties
Role Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with Special Needs
Assist teachers with delivering tailored learning programmes to students who have differentiated ability levels
Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in education, care, youth work, or SEN
Patience, empathy, and a calm, supportive approach
Resilient nature with the ability to effectively manage challenging behaviours
Passion for making a positive impact on young people’s lives
Strong communication and teamwork skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
