EduTalent Group are supporting a wonderful school in Horsham, who are seeking a One-to-One Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role involves supporting the pupil both at school and at their care home, helping them engage with learning and develop key life and social skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one support to a pupil with SEMH needs in both school and care home settings
• Assist with learning, personal development and social skills
• Implement strategies to manage behaviour and support emotional wellbeing
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, care home staff and other professionals
• Monitor progress and report on academic, social and emotional development
• Adapt learning and support strategies to meet individual needs
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, safety, and wellbeing
• Support the pupil in accessing school activities and routines
Requirements
• Experience supporting children with SEMH needs, ideally in a school or care setting
• Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional support techniques
• Ability to work one-to-one and adapt to the pupil’s needs
• Patient, flexible, and proactive approach
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
