Job Summary
At VVB we are hiring a Delivery Manager to support our Highways Sector. You will deliver Mechanical, Electrical and Technology Projects, support the Project Manager and Head of Sector to develop working teams, and safely deliver these projects on time and on budget to safety and quality standards for Highways infrastructure projects. The role is client facing and involves representing VVB at meetings with clients and other key stakeholders. Travel to and from regional locations, including Saltash, is required.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide supportive leadership and project management across all project activities to meet cost, time and quality requirements (collaborating with Project Managers, Sector Operations Manager, and Sector Head)
* Understand the project commercials and apply them to help ensure margins are achieved
* Work with Company Construction Leads to ensure site works teams are correctly staffed with competent personnel to meet safety and technical standards
* Be responsible for the delivery performance of the project, ensuring activities align with the programme and budgets
* Ensure engineering activities are undertaken in a timely manner and in line with company processes and relevant standards
* Develop and manage effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to identify and integrate requirements into the project
* Collaborate with the client and report to the Project Manager to help establish project strategy and delivery
* Undertake project management tasks and act as Project Manager in the absence of the PM
Additional Responsibilities
* Drive productivity and lead works during the project lifecycle
* Lead client-facing interactions, develop client strategy, and assist in appointing the extended professional team
* Develop the client brief, deliver strategy, and lead design management, procurement and execution of the scheme
* Supervise and support Site Teams to develop a high-performing team with a focus on quality, safety, cost and schedule improvements
* Maintain the highest standards of health and safety across all project stages
* Coordinate, plan and manage internal and external meetings related to the project
* Drive procurement of services and works required for delivery
* Provide input into client system safety and project risk management processes
Skills and Experience
* Significant experience in managing clients, contractors and coordinating stakeholders
* Experience within Highways electrical or Technology field
* Ability to manage and motivate a team
* Ability to conduct quality inspections and provide onsite solutions to coordination issues
* Managing budgets and forecasting expenditure
* Strong knowledge of project processes including design management, construction, procurement and tendering
* Excellent IT skills in MS Office
* Strong project management and organisational skills
* Understanding of industry best practice
* Previous working experience in a similar role
* Experience in a client-facing role for a PMC or as a client is essential
