The Traffic and Transportation Section plays a pivotal role in shaping Derby’s dynamic transport network. Our remit spans traffic management, engineering and major projects, smart mobility and active travel initiatives, highways development management, transport planning and new streets. All contributing to a more sustainable and connected city.
We are looking for a flexible individual to specifically drive forward our strategic active travel schemes, building the strategic case and developing feasible options to take forward for delivery.

You will need either a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, or demonstrable experience at a comparable level. You must have a practical knowledge of traffic management principles, transport legislation and design guidance. Through your experience you should possess a good awareness of the often complex and competing transport issues that influence feasibility scheme design. You will have good communication skills, team leadership skills and be able to manage a varied workload.
