Job Overview

We’re looking for an Assistant General Manager covering 12 months maternity leave to join our forward-thinking Trauma and Orthopaedics Group Clinical Service. If successful you will be joining the team at a time of significant change as we embed the Group Clinical Service model. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high quality care and shape improvements that will make a substantial difference to our population.

What You’ll Be Doing

* Lead and manage Trauma and Orthopaedic services across multiple sites – your primary base will be confirmed, and you will work across Weston, the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead hospitals.
* Collaborate with clinical leads and matrons to deliver divisional and specialty-specific objectives
* Drive service integration and transformation, especially around the Group Clinical Service model
* Ensure compassionate, patient-centred care that reflects the diversity of our population
* Manage performance, budgets, and workforce planning
* Lead service improvement and modernisation initiatives

Person Specification

Essential criteria

* Relevant managerial experience
* Operational and strategic planning and management
* Performance management
* Management of budgets
* Experience of managing waiting lists, capacity planning and service improvement methodologies

Desirable criteria

* Management of change with an interest in culture change
* Experience of service integration


Skills And Abilities

* Effective communication at all levels
* Leadership skills
* Influencing and negotiating in multi-disciplinary teams
* Strong organisational skills
* Ability to quickly establish credibility with senior staff and maintain good working relationships

* Capacity to work flexibly (time and location) to the needs of the role


Qualifications And Training

* Proven experience in managing clinical services
* Evidence of management training
* Degree level education or equivalent experience
* Post Graduate qualification or equivalent experience (preferably in healthcare management)
