Hays are working in conjunction with an organisation in Wolverhampton who are looking to recruit aernance Lead /pany Secretary who will oversee all aspects ofernance effectiveness andpliance. This includes ensuringernance adheres to best practice, meets statutory and regulatory requirements, and providing strategic leadership forernance support services across the organisation. The role also involves delivering highly professional executive support to the CEO and members of the Executive Team.
Your new role
As apany Secretary this role would entail
1. Leadernance services across the Trust.
2. Act as the lead adviser onernance issues.
3. Ensureernance structures, procedures, and legal frameworks arepliant and effective.
4. Provide advice and guidance onplexernance matters, informed by risk assessment.
5. Oversee recruitment and induction ofernors and trustees, ensuring diversity and inclusivity.
6. Develop systems for board self-evaluation andmission external reviews.
7. Deliverernance training, CPD, and targeted support interventions.
8. Maintain accurate records of Trust Board and academymittee membership.
9. Manage the Trust policy register and advise on review cycles.
10. Ensure statutory documents (, scheme of delegation, register of interests) are published in line with requirements.
11. Includeernance-specific risks in the Trust’s risk register.
12. Support production of the annualernance statement and report.
13. Maintainernance documentation and online portals.
14. Provide confidential and efficient administrative support to the CEO, including diary management, meeting organisation, minute-taking, and correspondence.
15. Ensure the CEO is fully briefed for meetings with relevant documentation.
16. Provide diary and administrative support for other Executive Team members as required.
17. Develop and maintain a virtual central filing system forernance documents.
18. Coordinate arrangements for meetings and events led by the CEO.
19. Handle iingmunications and redirect appropriately using sound judgment.
20. Manage resources required forernance and executive support.
21. Prepare briefing papers and reports for internal and external audiences.
22. Facilitatemunication between Trust staff and senior leadership.
23. Coordinate high-profilemunications and media liaison for the Trust.
24. Act as Website & Social Media Coordinator, ensuring content is current andpliant.
25. Support pre- and post-conversion plans for schools joining the Trust.
26. Develop and quality assure administration standards across the Trust.
27. Organise Trust events and oversee policypliance.
28. Liaise with PAs to ensure timely distribution of papers for Trustee and LGB meetings.
29. Attend Leadership Team meetings as directed by the CEO.
30. Attend Trust and school meetings where appropriate.
31. Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion.
32. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust’s vision and values.
What you'll need to succeed
33. Strong knowledge ofernance frameworks and statutory requirements.
34. Experience inernance leadership within a multi-academy trust or similar organisation.
35. Excellent organisational andmunication skills.
36. Ability to manageplex information and provide strategic advice.
37. High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
38. Strong IT skills and experience managing onlineernance systems.
39. Professionalernance qualification (, NGA Clerking Certificate or equivalent) - desirable.
40. Experience in executive support at senior leadership level - desirable.
