We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Thameside, as a Functional Skills English Teacher. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Site Information
HMP Thameside is a local category B resettlement prison in the Thamesmead area of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, South-East London and is situated close to HMP Belmarsh. Thameside is London's only prision and accommodates a male prison population.
Role Responsibilities
As a Functional Skills English Teacher, you will develop and deliver high quality, learner-focused education to meet contractual requirements and standards, in line with Novus policies and procedure; supporting learners and colleagues alike to ensure the best outcome for all who work within our sector. Specifically, you will deliver class-based Level 1 and Level 2 English, as well as some outreach 1:1 work with learners. Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
Have the passion and ability to motivate and enthuse learners
Utilise organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet deadlines and targets
Be committed to positive team working
Have experience of creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
Have a track record of achieving quality targets and producing accurate and timely reports
Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS), or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe (Applies to Teachers in YOI only)
