Job Overview
We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our team as a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to work within our existing Integrated Complex Assessment Team (ICAT) based in Cannock covering the Southwest district Discharge to Assess (D2A) beds. The service provides rehabilitation, reablement and recovery to those discharged from hospital with an emphasis on restoring independence. As a senior OT you will assess complex care needs, develop and evaluate treatment plans, and collaborate with the Team Leader to manage and coordinate care. You will also hold supervisory, training and leadership responsibilities where appropriate.
Responsibilities
* Work with individuals and carers who may find it difficult to engage with the service or display challenging behaviour that must be managed.
* Assess residents' care/support needs, provide advice and support, and collaborate with care home staff to develop appropriate care plans.
* Maintain safety and highlight areas of concern.
* Support mobility, handling, fall management and improvement of functional and cognitive ability.
* Promote health and wellbeing, including mental health and disease/condition management.
* Prevent and reduce health inequalities.
* Demonstrate people‑management skills and compassionate leadership.
* Travel independently across a large geographical area; a valid driving licence and access to a car are required.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* HCPC registration.
* Post‑qualification courses in working with older people and people with physical disabilities.
* Experience of using standardised assessments and outcome measures.
* Experience of negotiation and conflict management in clinical situations.
* Experience working in nursing/residential homes.
* Relevant experience of assessment and interventions for a wide range of disabilities.
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Prioritisation of individuals’ care and treatment according to their health status and needs.
* Discharge and transfer of individuals in a timely and appropriate manner.
Desirable criteria
* Modules at masters level or equivalent further clinical study.
* Evidence of further clinical study.
* Accreditation by LACLs.
* Leadership experience or qualification.
* Member of BAOT.
* Knowledge of relevant NICE guidance.
