Job Description
At Bupa we are passionate about technology. You will work on innovative projects in the Health Services Technology team, translating customer healthcare needs into safe, reliable and supportable solutions. You will partner with the Product Manager, clinicians, operational leaders, and technology colleagues to deliver solutions that improve outcomes, protect continuity of care, and align with strategic direction.
How You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen
* Provide clear technical leadership across clinical and operational systems.
* Build and lead a team of engineers and technical specialists.
* Translate clinical and operational needs into actionable delivery plans.
* Enable evidence‑based decisions by articulating patient safety, clinical risk, information governance, security and operational impacts.
* Build strong relationships with clinicians, practice managers, operational service owners and technology teams, influencing decisions to protect continuity of care.
* Coach and develop your team to improve clinical systems capability, raising quality and reducing operational risk.
* Work in close partnership with Product Owners, constructively challenging intent and prioritisation to ensure solutions are technically sound, safe, and aligned to long‑term outcomes.
* Lead delivery and ongoing optimisation of clinically critical platforms and workflows (e.g., PAS, EMR, PACS and specialist systems), ensuring safe, reliable operation.
* Provide hands‑on technical leadership for clinical and operational delivery, coordinating technical SMEs, suppliers and service teams across projects of varying scope and complexity.
* Own end‑to‑end interoperability and integration delivery (design, mapping, testing, deployment and monitoring), including standards such as HL7 v2, FHIR, DICOM, ICD‑9/10 and SNOMED CT where applicable.
What You’ll Bring
* Comfortable working with clinical stakeholders and governance.
* Experience in healthcare interoperability and integration engineering, including interface specifications, mapping, test evidence and monitoring for standards such as HL7 v2, FHIR, DICOM, ICD‑9/10 and SNOMED CT where applicable.
* Product and Agile operating methods; experience leading delivery in healthcare/product environments where service continuity and governance are essential.
* Clear and pragmatic communication, tailoring messages to audience and context (delivery decisions, governance, operational impact) across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* People leadership experience: building capability, setting standards, and leading mixed teams in regulated/operationally sensitive environments.
* Experience leading within matrix environments with blended teams.
* Provides clear technical direction within the product team, making and owning architectural and design decisions aligned to organisational standards.
* Structured approach to problem solving and designing software solutions, backed by extensive experience delivering performant, scalable services end‑to‑end.
Benefits
* 25 days holiday, increasing through length of service, with option to buy or sell.
* Bupa health insurance as a benefit in kind.
* Enhanced pension plan and life insurance.
* Onsite gyms or local discounts where no onsite gym available.
* Various other benefits and online discounts.
