Our Investment Assistants are an important part of our service, and we currently have 3 positions available based at our office in Attercliffe.
1 x 37 Hours Permanent
1 x 20 Hours Permanent
1 x 18.5 Hours Temporary until
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and organised Investment Assistant to join our Investment Service within Sheffield City Council’s Housing and Neighbourhoods portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of housing investment programmes that make a real difference to the people of Sheffield.
In this role, you will provide high‑quality administrative and coordination support across a wide range of investment activities. You’ll work closely with colleagues, contractors, service users and other partners to ensure our programmes run smoothly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
As an Investment Assistant, you will:
1. Maintain accurate financial and asset records and contribute to effective budget management.
2. Raise orders and ensure invoices are processed to required timescales.
3. Support the administration and coordination of contracts and investment work, including organising information, documentation and workflows.
4. Provide administrative support ensuring robust systems are in place across the Investment Service.
5. Record, collate and quality‑check statistical information, producing monitoring reports and returns.
6. Input, manipulate and retrieve data from a variety of IT systems.
7. Assist in the production of reports, specifications, estimates and drawings.
8. Liaise effectively with internal SCC teams, contractors, agencies and service users.
9. Provide and collect information via phone, in writing and in person, taking necessary follow-up actions.
10. Undertake site visits to support delivery of investment programmes.
11. Support the organisation of tenant consultation events and training activities.

12. Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
13. Competent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
14. Good numeracy and ability to assimilate information quickly.
15. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure.
16. Problem‑solving skills and a methodical approach to tasks.
17. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
18. Ability to represent the service professionally to customers and stakeholders.
Experience
19. Experience of office-based administration and working with management information systems such as spreadsheets, finance tools.
20. Basic understanding of the housing investment service and managing projects.
21. Experience of working both independently and within a team environment.
