Nurse Assessor / Functional Assessor – Hybrid
Location: Salisbury
Salary: £39,500 to £42,000 plus approval bonus, performance bonus and benefits
Contract: Full time or part time, permanent. Monday to Friday.
About the role
As a Functional Assessor, you will complete structured assessments to determine how a person’s physical or mental health condition affects their ability to carry out everyday activities. Assessments are delivered via telephone, video or face‑to‑face, using secure digital systems and standardised clinical frameworks.
You will review medical evidence, conduct structured clinical conversations and produce clear, objective and evidence‑based written reports. These reports directly support formal disability benefit decision‑making.
There is no hands‑on treatment, no prescribing and no manual handling. All appointments are pre‑booked, with sufficient time allocated for each assessment. There is no diary management or scheduling responsibility.
Responsibilities
* Complete structured assessments of individuals’ functional abilities.
* Review medical evidence and conduct structured clinical conversations.
* Create clear, objective and evidence‑based written reports to support disability benefit decisions.
Working pattern
This is a hybrid role combining home working with attendance at the Salisbury assessment centre. Onsite attendance is typically two days per week. Working hours are office hours, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for part‑time arrangements.
Eligibility
Applicants must be registered with one of the following professional bodies: NMC as an RGN, RMN or RNLD; HCPC as a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Paramedic; or GPhC as a Pharmacist. A minimum of 12 months post‑registration experience is required. You must be confident in clinical reasoning, professional communication, report writing and daily use of IT systems. You must have the right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.
Pay and benefits
* Salary range: £39,500 to £42,000 per year, dependent on background and experience.
* Approval bonus of £1,000 to £2,000.
* Annual performance bonus up to 10 percent.
