About the Role:
Manage the Transport Operation (Drivers / Mates) daily, ensuring high customer service, H&S standards, and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities include ensuring crews depart on time, managing deliveries, and handling issues both from the office and on the road. The role is split evenly between office-based coordination and on-road delivery tasks.
1. Assist with loading/unloading vehicles according to depot practices.
2. Support drivers in delivering orders courteously and efficiently.
3. Guide drivers during manoeuvres at customer premises.
4. Record deliveries, collections, shortages, and returns accurately.
5. Help locate customer premises using maps or experience.
6. Manage paperwork and cash collection if accompanying agency/temporary drivers.
7. Adhere to all health and safety policies and legislation.
8. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and load security in partnership with drivers.
9. Ensure timely departure of crews and vehicles each morning.
10. Manage staffing levels, including absence coverage and training for agency staff.
11. Coordinate vehicle and drop changes while maintaining schedule adherence.
12. Conduct daily vehicle and equipment checks, addressing defects promptly.
13. Inform Customer Care and Sales of any failed deliveries.
14. Act as a communication hub for crews, sales, and customer care.
15. Coordinate with vehicle maintenance providers for repairs and servicing.
16. Deliver daily drops across various vehicle types, ensuring on-time, full deliveries as required.

About You:
* Class 1 HGV Licence (preferred)
* Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Lotus)
* JDE knowledge (desirable)
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Good customer and local knowledge
* Experience managing a team
* Experience in multi-drop deliveries
