The Company/Role
Being a highly successful leading manufacturer of high-performance process chemicals, our client is looking to appoint a hands-on, motivated Assistant Production Supervisor to join their expanding team.
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Assistant Production Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our production plant. You will also act as a stand-in Production Manager when required, ensuring operational continuity and compliance with company policies and safety standards.
As the Assistant Production Supervisor, your key responsibilities would be:
* Monitor production equipment to ensure continuous and efficient manufacturing of chemical products.
* Identify and respond promptly to production and mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
* Assist with troubleshooting and rectifying mechanical and liaise with external contractors for maintenance, repair, and project work.
* Supervise contractor activities on site to ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.
* Manage and issue Permits to Work (PTW) for maintenance, contractor activities, and other non-routine tasks.
* Monitor and maintain raw materials, finished goods, and consumable inventories.
* Work closely with the logistics and procurement teams to ensure material availability.
* Function as stand-in Production Manager during absences, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to process optimisation efforts.
The Assistant Production Supervisor will have the following skills & experience;
* Must have solid experience of working within a Chemical or Process Manufacturing environment.
* Previous experience working within a Team Leader or Supervisory position is required.
* Strong understanding of Permits to Work, safety systems, and contractor management.
* Basic mechanical aptitude and experience handling equipment breakdowns or maintenance coordination.
* Previous experience working on any project work would be advantageous.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

* Problem-solving mindset with hands-on technical ability.
