Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking experienced Pre-Birth Social Workers / Senior Practitioners to join their dynamic Safeguarding and Family Support teams. This is a fast‑paced, high‑impact role working with vulnerable families at the earliest stage of pregnancy to ensure safe planning and positive outcomes for babies.
Responsibilities
* Conduct detailed pre‑birth assessments to inform safe decision‑making and outcomes for unborn and vulnerable babies.
* Assess and support parents with previous children removed from care, identifying risks and strengths.
* Manage cases across Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Initial Care Orders (ICO).
* Undertake complex case discussions, legal planning, and pre‑proceedings as required.
* Collaborate with multi‑agency teams to address safeguarding concerns, including substance misuse, mental health, homelessness, and domestic abuse.
* Develop risk management and safety plans for unborn and post‑birth children.
* Ensure practice is compliant with statutory guidance, policies, and legislation.
* Maintain accurate case records, reports, and statutory documentation.
* Participate in reflective supervision, continuous professional development, and team discussions.

Qualifications
* Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent).
* Social Work England registration (current and active).
* Extensive experience in Pre‑Birth assessments and safeguarding vulnerable babies.
* Strong knowledge of legal planning, pre‑proceedings, and court processes.
* Experience in multi‑agency working addressing substance misuse, mental health, homelessness, and domestic abuse.
* Ability to work independently, under pressure, and in fast‑paced environments.
* Excellent assessment, report writing, and communication skills.
* Committed to reflective practice and professional development.
