Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Wakefield
Pay: £90 – £100 per day
Type: Full-time | Temporary with potential for permanent placement
Start Date: September 2025 (or earlier for the right candidate)
Are you a compassionate and proactive individual looking to support young people with special educational needs (SEN)? A welcoming and inclusive school in Wakefield is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils who need additional support.
About the Role:
As an SEN TA, you will work closely with class teachers and support staff to assist students with a range of needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). You’ll provide 1:1 support where needed, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils to access learning in a way that works best for them.
This is a rewarding role ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, builds strong relationships easily, and is committed to creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting pupils in class, in small groups or on a 1:1 basis
Assisting with differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
Encouraging engagement, independence, and confidence in learners
Helping manage behaviour and emotional regulation using positive strategies
Experience working with children or young people with SEND (in schools, care, or youth settings)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A patient, adaptable, and caring approach
Confidence supporting children with a variety of learning or behavioural needs
A genuine interest in education and supporting inclusive practice
