Part-Time Early Years Specialist | Newport Location: Newport Start Date: November 2025 (after October half term) Pay: From £89 per day (pro-rata for part-time) Hours: Part-time | Flexible schedule with full and half days available A warm and inclusive primary school in Newport is looking for a Part-Time Early Years Specialist to join their team after October half term. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early education and supporting children’s development during their first years in school. The Role Working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), you’ll provide caring, structured, and engaging support to children in Nursery and Reception. You’ll help pupils access learning through play, clear routines, and consistent encouragement—supporting their social, emotional, and communication skills. You may work 1:1 or in small groups with children who need additional support, including those with: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN) Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs Developmental or sensory processing challenges Key Responsibilities: Support daily routines and classroom learning activities Implement and follow Individual Development Plans (IDPs) or Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs) Promote communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing Encourage engagement through play-based learning Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to ensure consistent support ✅ Who We’re Looking For You’ll be a caring, reliable, and patient individual who’s passionate about early education and inclusion. You may have previous experience working in schools, nurseries, or care settings—or personal experience supporting children with additional needs. Essential skills and qualities: Understanding of EYFS curriculum and early learning methods Positive and proactive approach to supporting young learners Strong communication and teamwork skills Requirements Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Two recent references from the last 24 months Why This Role Matters Early years education sets the foundation for lifelong learning.
