Requirements
To act as a member of the staff team to provide care and support to individuals using the day service.
This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act, it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Therefore, the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
Responsibilities
* To enable service users to participate in a wide range of therapeutic and social activities
* To uphold social work values and ensure good working practices regarding health and safety
* To promote the independence of service users
* To work positively with other agencies and services to ensure the highest level of care
* Contribute to the maintenance of service user records

The Individual
* Experience that would give insight into issues relating to working with older adults.
* Effective and proven literacy and numeracy skills.
* Willingness to undertake further SVQ training if/as required.
* Effective practical skills.
* Active listening and observational skills to enable development and maintenance of care plans.
* Flexibility.
* Ability to show empathy.
* Self-confident and self-motivated.
* A strong value base.
* Ability to form positive relationships with service users and other agencies involved in care.
* Ability to record information accurately.
* Sensitivity and understanding of discriminatory issues.
* Knowledge and working practice in line with SSSC Codes of Practice and be able to evidence understanding of/application in a relevant work setting.
* Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to service development.
* Ability to use own initiative/when required.
* Appreciation, acceptance of, and commitment to, the importance of confidentiality
* Ability to understand and communicate clearly using the English language.
* Willingness to accept direction/delegation.
* Ability to carry out duties that involve a significant amount of moving and handling, using hoists and other lifting aids in conjunction with moving and handling regulations.
* Ability to support service users with physical activities.

Starting Salary: £26,531.96
£13.79 per hour
36.25 hours per week
