This role provides the opportunity to become a system safety engineer, gaining expertise in safety engineering activities. Working within a large team of System Safety Engineers, you will learn to undertake all aspects of systems safety activities in support of UK safety cases for modifications to aerospace platforms, complex systems, and supporting equipment as required.
The role has the following key responsibilities:
* Learn to develop safety cases and associated documentation in accordance with Defence Standard 00-056 for modifications to UK aerospace platforms, systems, and supporting equipment.
* Learn how to develop a project/programme safety management plan, perform safety assessments of design, influence design through safety considerations, conduct hazard identification and analysis including preliminary hazard identification, functional failure analysis, operating and support hazard analysis, occupational health hazard analysis, fault tree analysis using the Fault Tree+ module of Reliability Workbench, participate in zonal safety assessments, generate and maintain a hazard log, develop and maintain safety cases and safety case reports, and develop safety arguments using claims, argument evidence, or goal structuring notation with the Adelard Assurance and Safety Case Environment (ASCE).
* Opportunity to liaise with other Boeing, customer, and supplier technical disciplines to gather evidence supporting the safety case.
* Support the preparation for customer safety meetings and system safety working groups.
* Assist in programme planning and support safety activities.
* Identify risks, issues, and opportunities, supporting the development of mitigation plans.
* Assist, under general supervision, in the development, maintenance, review, and update of safety processes.
Some UK and US travel may be required.
Qualifications:
* A degree in an engineering or science discipline or experience working in an aerospace/complex systems environment.
* Enthusiasm and a desire to learn.
* Strong communication skills, technical competency, and awareness of project management concepts/tools are desirable.
* Specific platform or system experience, product knowledge, and familiarity with UK MoD safety policies, processes, and culture are preferred.
* Previous industry or military service safety engineering experience is desirable.

* This is a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorization to work immediately in the UK. Boeing will not sponsor immigration or work visas.

* Security clearance: The ability to acquire UK Secret security clearance is required; UK residency is necessary.
