Role Overview
Research Intelligence Manager at Somerset Council, part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research funded Somerset Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC). This is a temporary 12‑month appointment (starting February 2026) covering maternity leave.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Business Development and Research Intelligence Manager to set workstream priorities, track progress, and ensure delivery aligns with HDRC programme goals and reporting requirements.
* Manage research‑related data and intelligence requests from a range of stakeholders, defining requirements and advising on suitable approaches to identifying, protecting, collating, and analysing data.
* Support research funding opportunities from application through to completion, including identifying governance requirements and relevant data sources on social and economic determinants of health.
* Provide access to data subject to all necessary governance and protections at each stage.
* Perform rigorous statistical analysis and data visualisation using tools such as Power BI, Excel and GIS.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in public health, global health, epidemiology or a related quantitative data management discipline.
* Strong understanding of research governance and its practical application.
* Proficiency in data analysis, visualisation and reporting using Power BI, Excel, GIS or similar tools.
* Knowledge of public health, local authority or NHS data sets and experience in statistical analysis.
* Ability to gather, organise, process and model structured or unstructured data.
* Experience (preferably in public health, local authority, academia or NHS) collating data into reports, critical appraisal, evidence reviews and small‑scale research projects.
* Capacity to manage changing deadlines and competing priorities while supporting the wider HDRC team.

Salary
Grade 10: £37,280 to £41,771 per annum.
