Senior Mechanical Engineer – Staff – Salary Benefits – Hybrid Working – Ayrshire Our leading engineering consultancy client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer on a staff basis. You will be responsible for leading the design and validation of the Mechanical & Piping Systems of all projects. Duties: * Responsible for design of all Mechanical aspects on each major project; ensuring design fully reflects P&ID in relation to piping and best economic/ease of operation fit. * Support with the commissioning and validation process key duties of the role drive a proactive safety culture and ensure engineering design is to BATNEC and to gas regulation standards. * Leading and developing the layout of overall plant facilities. including placing equipment and process units. * Coordination with Mechanical Designers and key Stakeholders. * Developing the blueprint of piping systems, Equipment positioning and selection – structural support design, continuous improvement and creating and auditing. * Good Knowledge Piping Design Standards is essential – (EN13480/ASMEB31.3). * Delivery of 3D and 2D drawing packages using AutoCAD plant 3D. * Analysing mechanical designs and preparing concepts for piping design and developing required mechanical drawings. Paying specific attention to process specifications and physical conditions. * Designs should ensure best economic cost and minimise overall project, operations and maintenance costs. * Responsible for design calculation, specification, procedures, quality inspections and bid evaluation. * Knowledge of the costs of various mechanical fabrication and erection methods. Assist in the Selection of equipment and materials, providing support to procurement activities creating of detailed Tender packages (RFQ) and evaluating vendor submittals. Experience & Qualifications: * Ideally Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience. * Industry experience of working with process and pressure equipment such as piping, pumps, pressure vessels, valves etc
