What skills and experience we're looking for
Synergy Education Trust is seeking to appoint a new Head of School at The Maple School, Blackpool. The school is a specialist provision for pupils aged 10-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, accommodating up to 48 students from Year 6 to Year 11. All students have access to various curriculum pathways, delivering core subjects, qualifications, and therapeutic interventions to support their development and engagement.
We are looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record in school improvement and developing tailored learning programmes. The Head of School will provide strategic leadership, working closely with the Governing Body and Trust to foster a positive, inclusive school culture, and to drive continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Translating the school’s vision into a development plan and leading its implementation.
2. Establishing effective systems, processes, and policies for smooth operations.
3. Managing the internal organisation and day-to-day school management.
4. Ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all phases.
5. Leading staff performance management and professional development.
6. Managing finances and resources strategically.
7. Overseeing pastoral care and behaviour support systems.
8. Fostering an inclusive learning environment valuing diversity.
9. Building external partnerships to enhance learning opportunities.
10. Collaborating with other school leaders and the Trust for school improvement.
11. Working with the Governing Body to develop the school’s strategic vision.
