The post holder will be part of the senior clinical team, with a focus on service delivery. While you will be responsible for your own training and development, the Trust will provide opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills, including an assigned Educational Supervisor. You will work in accordance with GMC Good Medical Practice and Trust policies, engaging in re-validation and appraisal.
Applicants should have completed their specialty training in Ophthalmology and meet all competencies of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists' Specialty Training Curriculum. This role is expected to commence in July 2026.
The post holder will gain extensive clinical and surgical experience in diagnosing and managing anterior segment diseases (Corneal/External diseases and Refractive) and General Ophthalmology. Responsibilities include diagnosing, managing, and following up with patients with anterior segment diseases, providing general ophthalmology services, and performing surgeries under supervision and independently.
You will be encouraged to develop your clinical skills and handle increasingly complex cases. Contributions to the wider trust, such as research, audits, outcomes, management, and teaching, are expected and supported by the department and QVH.
A fundamental requirement of the fellowship is the ability to perform unsupervised cataract surgery at a competent level.
