Overview
To ensure accurate planning and delivery of Radiotherapy, as prescribed, and in line with the Quality Management System, with appropriate care of the patient with a cancer diagnosis. To be actively involved with the development of Radiotherapy Services. The post holder must contribute to the efficient running of the service, and work within The Christie NHS Foundation Trust policies and Health & Safety legislation. Ensuring accurate recording/input of treatment and planning data. Analyse systematically and evaluate all data and information relevant to patients’ diagnosis, ensuring the patient and their relatives are treated with dignity and respect at all times. Communicate confidential sensitive information, and provide emotional support, to patients and their carers/relatives.

Responsibilities
* To ensure accurate planning and delivery of Radiotherapy, as prescribed, and in line with the Quality Management System, with appropriate care of the patient with a cancer diagnosis
* To be actively involved with the development of Radiotherapy Services
* The post holder must contribute to the efficient running of the service, and work within The Christie NHS Foundation Trust policies and Health & Safety legislation.
* Ensuring accurate recording/input of treatment and planning data.
* Analyse systematically and evaluate all data and information relevant to patients’ diagnosis, ensuring the patient and their relatives are treated with dignity and respect at all times.
* Communicate confidential sensitive information, and provide emotional support, to patients and their carers/relatives
* Undertake and evaluate radiation dose delivery and complex calculations involving a range of radiation types and energies.
* Interpret, monitor and evaluate the treatment prescriptions to ensure that radiotherapy is delivered accurately and reproducibly and in accordance with the quality system.
* Be able to accurately position patient and operate highly complex radiotherapy and imaging equipment along the radiotherapy pathway
* Ensure all work and actions comply with local rules and current UK Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) 2017 and IR(ME)R 2017.
* Participate in the shift system, bank holidays, weekend working and on-call.
* The Radiographers work closely with the medical support and information team providing an accurate, efficient and high quality radiation service.
* Working hours must be flexible to fit the needs of the service. This may include evening work, some weekend working and does include working bank holidays. Individuals will be expected to participate in all shift patterns.

* Knowledge, training and experience relevant to radiotherapy services.
* Personal skills: Liaises with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that adequate information and support is available to patients.
* Manual handling tasks as required.
