A leading British brand and rapidly expanding small family run business, positioned towards the high end of the architectural and decorative market in the UK. We make by hand antique, reclaimed, vintage and contemporary wood flooring specifications, in addition to complimentary millwork and specialist finishing at our workshop in Heaton Mersey, Cheshire, UK.
We have an exciting opportunity available to join our expanding team in a rewarding position as a Bench Joiner / Workshop Assistant. Our workshop is a compact and friendly environment.
You will assist in the hands-on technical aspects of production of flooring and joinery items to ensure each and every sample and finished order is the best that can be produced and to the highest possible standard.
Initially you will be required to assist in the making of the following:-
Sample Panels, Display Panels, Custom Stair Pieces, Thresholds and Nosings, Flooring Orders, (includes using wood cutting machinery and hand sanding and finishing).
Next year we plan to grow our production capabilities further to include:-
Worktops, Doors, Shelves, Simple Furniture Pieces.
Additional Main Tasks and responsibilities will include:-
Keeping the Workshop Manager updated daily on progress of work in progress.
Assisting with goods in / goods out, to include accurately counting / QC'ing and packing orders, and assisting with unloading deliveries and counting QC'ing goods in.
Ensuring the sample room is sufficiently stocked .
Keeping the workshop clean and clear for maximum health & safety and efficiency.
Ensuring that waste is kept to an absolute minimum. This applies to materials and time.
To be flexible, adaptable and agile in response to ad-hoc requests that may not have been discussed or agreed in the daily Production briefing.
To proactively advise your line manager of any stocks that are running low before they run out whilst allowing enough time for materials to be delivered before they become exhausted.
Personal Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:-
* Woodworking and / or Joinery qualifications.
* Proficient in a range of wood cutting tools/machinery (Routers,saws, planers, sanders etc)
* PC Literate and Numerate (good maths skills are essential)
* Problem Solver with an eye for detail
* Confident and Professional
* Hard working can-do attitude
* Willingness to grow with the company.
* Fork lift licence (not essential but desirable)
