Role Overview:
As a Child Welfare Court Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to drive improvement for our most vulnerable children and young people, ensuring that a legal framework or legal intervention is utilised when necessary to safeguard their welfare and secure their permanency. You will play a crucial role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in Lambeth by ensuring effective care planning and timely progression of care proceedings cases. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to enhance service delivery within Children's Social Care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work across all sections of Children's Social Care to provide specialist input and support.
2. Collaborate closely with team managers, senior management, legal colleagues, the court, and other local authorities and organisations such as CAFCASS.
3. Provide expert input to inform and improve the quality of social work practice for all children's Public Law Outline care proceedings and pre-proceedings work.
4. Monitor and contribute to the progress of legal proceedings within current practice requirements, ensuring compliance with and exceeding national targets and timescales.
5. Maintaining accurate records of the progression of court cases, keeping the child at the forefront of all practise.
Qualifications and Experience:
6. Qualified Social Worker with an active registration and 5+. years experience at senior management level within Child Social Care and Court Work
7. Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and associated regulations.
8. Proven track record of effectively managing complex cases and achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
9. Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and make informed decisions
