Children and Family Health Devon has been tasked with catalysing collaboration across the health, education, care, and voluntary sectors to create a lasting impact on children and families' health, happiness, and aspirations. You will be a key member of the Learning Disability Clinical team, providing quality services for the Children's Learning Disability Community Team based in North Devon, Exeter, or South Devon, depending on your preference.

Your responsibilities include:

1. Working autonomously and collaboratively within the Children's Learning Disability Service.
2. Managing a clinical caseload, conducting assessments and interventions for children and young people in community settings.
3. Delivering specialist assessment and management for children and young people with various difficulties, including challenging behaviors.
4. Using a strengths-based approach to ensure clinical effectiveness through evidence-based interventions, goal-based, collaborative practice, and Routine Outcome Measures. Providing specialist Learning Disability advice and support to other professionals within a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework.
5. Offering early help interventions across pathways such as emotional health, well-being, and communication issues, including parent support and resilience building.
6. Providing specialist sleep assessments and interventions.
7. Supporting individuals and families to promote self-management of health and wellbeing.
8. Facilitating specialist workshops on topics like "Supporting Behaviour that Challenges" and "Specialist Sleep Support."
9. Supervising and supporting Band 5 Learning Disability Nurses and Band 4 Learning Disability Support Assistants.
10. Mentoring and contributing to the training and development of newly qualified and new staff members.
11. Participating in student placements.
12. Promoting and supporting the participation of service users, ensuring their voices are heard through adapted communication methods.
13. Working across geographical areas as needed to support colleagues.

The Learning Disability Service is a specialist team comprising nurses, psychologists, and support staff, offering assessment, intervention, consultation, liaison, and training for children and adolescents with diagnosed Learning Disabilities. The service supports children with moderate to profound Learning Disabilities, often with complex behavioral or sleep issues, and provides training in Positive Behaviour Support, Specialist Sleep Training, FAIT, and Talking Mats. Bespoke training can be arranged as required.

Children and Young People value staff who are understanding, patient, respectful, trustworthy, and make them feel safe and comfortable. Staff should listen carefully in a non-patronizing, non-judgemental manner, fostering a positive and informal environment.
