We are seeking a committed and flexible individual to join our team as a Part-Time Verger, supporting the worship and wider ministry of our church.
Hours:
* Core hours: 4 hours per week, worked across 2 days
* Additional hours: As required to complete irregular role tasks and for baptisms, funerals, weddings, and special services (with notice). Estimated an average of 2 hours per week over a 12-month period
Key Responsibilities:
* Open and prepare the church for services and events, including setting up liturgical items
* Assist clergy and visiting ministers during baptism, wedding and funeral services
* Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the church
* Act as designated first ‐ aid person with oversight of first aid, accident and other Health and Safety requirements
* Maintain the inventory of Church contents and maintain effective security of the Church
* Provide a welcoming presence to all visitors
* Support occasional events such as concerts or other church hires
The ideal candidate will:
* Be respectful of the church’s worship and traditions
* Be comfortable with manual tasks
* Have good interpersonal skills and a calm, reliable presence
* Be willing to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends as needed
* A committed and reliable individual with a servant-hearted approach to ministry.
* A practical and organised team player with attention to detail

Hourly Rate: £12.50
