The role
As Senior Buyer, you’ll lead the site purchasing team and drive cost-effective, compliant procurement across engineering and operational spend. You’ll work closely with production, engineering, and central functions to deliver measurable savings and strong supplier performance.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading and supervising the site purchasing team
*
Delivering cost-reduction initiatives aligned to group strategy
*
Supporting and embedding category management approaches
*
Managing SAP MM / MRP for spares and inventory control
*
Sourcing non-stock engineering parts and specialist services
*
Implementing and managing service and maintenance contracts
*
Acting as SAP MM key user for the site
*
Improving stock control, accuracy, security, and working capital
What we’re looking for
*
Proven Senior Buyer or Supervisory Buyer experience in manufacturing or heavy engineering
*
Strong negotiation, analysis, and stakeholder management skills
*
Confident people manager able to influence across departments
*
Solid SAP MM and MRP experience
*
Flexible, delivery-focused approach suited to a site-based role
Knowledge, experience & qualifications
*
CIPS Level 4 or above / equivalent experience
*
Track record of cost reduction and supplier performance improvement
*
Experience managing tenders and contract negotiations
*
Category management experience advantageous (not essential)
*
Strong SAP troubleshooting and systems ownership mindset
