Job Description
Hill Care is looking for compassionate and dedicated Care Assistants to provide person‑centred care in a safe and welcoming environment. You will support residents with daily tasks, maintain dignity and help promote independence.

Requirements
* Genuine interest in working within a caring environment

* Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List (where applicable)
* Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved / working towards)
* Experience of working with the relevant client group
Main Responsibilities
* Support and assist people in their care requirements including washing, toileting, dressing and other aspects of daily living.
* Provide compassionate, physical, emotional and spiritual care while ensuring dignity and comfort.
* Assist people with limited mobility or learning difficulties using appropriate aids.
* Monitor and report on people who may be confused or displaying behavioural problems.
* Assist with continence promotion.
* Support people who are dying or in progressive illness, including assistance with last rites.
* Complete written daily records as directed, in line with company policies and procedures.
* Promote social activities by engaging residents in hobbies and other activities.
* Answer nurse‑call systems, phone calls and door calls promptly and appropriately.
* Report on the wellbeing of people under the supervision of senior care staff.
* Conduct regular checks on residents at intervals set by senior staff.
* Provide a welcoming environment for visitors, including refreshments and assistance.
* Prepare and maintain beds, rooms, and hygiene supplies in accordance with cleaning policies.
* Maintain equipment, e.g. wheelchairs, hearing aids, spectacles, and keep the facility tidy.
* Handle personal clothing and rooms, ensuring accurate record‑keeping.
* Maintain privacy and dignity for the dying and bereaved in accordance with company policies.
* Assist with meals, taking special dietary or swallowing requirements into account, and perform related tasks.
* Escort residents to and from outings, hospitals and other locations.
* Maintain integrity in all dealings with residents’ personal and financial affairs.
* Assist in the rearrangement of bedrooms and furniture using safe handling techniques.
Communication
* Participate in staff and client meetings as required.
Training & Development
* Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
* Attend mandatory training days and courses, on or off‑site.
* Participate in relevant NVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
Health and Safety
* Report illness or accidents immediately to the Home Manager or Person in Charge.
* Understand and implement the Care Home’s Health and Safety policy, Emergency and Fire procedures.
* Report faulty appliances or potential hazards to the Home Manager or Handyperson.
* Promote safe working practices and uphold the Care Home’s reputation.
* Protect resident confidentiality and prevent disclosure.
* Inform the Home Manager of any inability to attend duty at least 2 hours before shift starts, and report returns from absences.
* Maintain the security of the Care Home at all times.
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures within agreed timeframes.
* Keep equipment clean and well‑maintained.
* Carry out any other reasonable tasks assigned.
