Medway celebrates success, supports innovation, and gives you the platform to drive real, lasting change for children and families.The Role As Head of Service – Safeguarding and QA, you will: Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance service. Drive improvement in practice and performance across Children’s Services, ensuring positive outcomes for children, young people, and families. Lead and manage the Quality Assurance Unit, including the IRO Service, LADO, Child Protection Chairs, and MSCB Business Support. Work closely with senior leaders and partners to promote a culture of high standards, transparency, and accountability. Oversee service budgets and ensure efficient delivery within financial constraints. Contribute to the strategic vision and development of Children’s Services, shaping policy and driving service improvement.Requirements Applicants must: Hold a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent). Be registered with Social Work England. Hold an NVQ Level 5 in Management or equivalent leadership qualification. Have substantial management experience, including leading teams through change. Demonstrate extensive understanding of the legislative and policy framework governing children’s services. Have proven experience contributing to Ofsted inspection readiness and improvement. Evidence continuous professional development.
