Bored of the classroom? Here’s a role that mixes it up.
You’ll be supporting young people with autism or learning disabilities on a Supported Internship programme. It blends employability and functional skills lessons with real work experience. Your job is to help them succeed in both.
What the week looks like:
2–3 days in the classroom: supporting tutors, keeping learners engaged.
2–3 days out in the community: coaching young people in their placements, checking in with employers, and helping with practical stuff like travel training.
What you’ll need:
Experience supporting young people (ideally those with SEND).
Patience, empathy and the confidence to coach step by step.
A car – you’ll be out visiting placements regularly.
This role suits a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant ready to do something different, or a Youth Worker with the right background.
