The post holder will provide engineering, technical and planning support to the Track department in the delivery of the inspection and maintenance works. Key Accountabilities • Inspect, maintain and calibrate all plant, equipment and gauges in accordance with legislation, safety and technical standards. • Prepare programmes of work, method statements, work requests and risk assessments for routine works and weekend possessions. • Undertake site surveys. Inspect track assets. Produce detailed inspection reports. • Scope maintenance works including production of drawings and specifications. • Analyse all track geometry and ride quality. Record data and assess track and rail conditions and defects in accordance with relevant standards. • Maintain asset and work information in DLR Metro. • Procure materials, plant, equipment and contract services. • Conduct investigations. Produce investigation reports. • Produce detailed proposals for asset upgrades and replacement. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Essential • Experience in track construction, inspection and maintenance. • Computer literacy – use of Microsoft Office, CAD and bespoke asset measurement and analysis software. • Competent in track asset gauging and site surveying techniques. • An appreciation of other railway engineering disciplines including, Electrical and Mechanical, Signalling, Telecommunications and Rolling Stock. • Knowledge of railway standards (Network Rail or LUL or DLR). • Competent in the inspection and condition assessment of railway and track assets. Desirable • Educated to degree or HNC level in an engineering discipline or equivalent. • Experience using DLR Metro.
