SEMH Maths Teacher – Secondary (Long-Term Role)

Milk Education is seeking a resilient, passionate, and dedicated SEMH Maths Teacher to work within an Alternative Provision / SEMH specialist setting. This is a rewarding opportunity for an educator who can deliver Maths creatively while supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4.
2. Teach small groups and occasionally on a 1:1 basis, focusing on personalised learning pathways.
3. Support pupils with SEMH needs by creating calm, structured, and nurturing learning environments.
4. Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
5. Build strong, trusting relationships with learners, encouraging resilience and a positive attitude to Maths.
6. Work closely with a supportive multidisciplinary team, including pastoral staff and behaviour specialists.
7. Track progress and adapt teaching to meet individual needs and EHCP targets.
Requirements:
8. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
9. Experience teaching Maths at KS3 and KS4.
10. Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or in alternative / specialist settings (highly desirable).
11. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
12. Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations.
13. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
