About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual who has a keen interest in patient safety & experience to join the Trust's Corporate Patient Safety & Experience Team. The role involves working with colleagues in all specialties and disciplines to support patient safety & experience across the whole organisation. You will support the team\'s Lead and Matron in delivering the Trust's Patient Safety Strategy. The role would suit a person who has an interest in patient safety & experience, has a strong focus on team working and with excellent communication skills. Candidates will be required to provide a Powerpoint presentation (maximum 10 minutes) on the below question: How will you in the role of Patient Safety Manager promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement?
Main duties
The post holder will be responsible for promoting patient safety & experience across the organisation through liaising with clinical and non-clinical staff, providing education and training, and supporting with the systematic reviews of patient safety incidents and complaints. Candidates will require excellent analytical and IT/database management skills as well as the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. He/she will be able to work autonomously but also as part of a small team. The post holder will advise on the application of the national Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) to managing risk and safety.
Job Description
Job responsibilities: The post holder will be responsible for promoting patient safety & experience across the organisation through liaising with clinical and non-clinical staff, providing education and training, and supporting with the systematic reviews of patient safety incidents and complaints. You will support the Trust to develop an effective patient safety & experience focus and culture through analysing themes and trends within incidents, as well as supporting care areas to look at recommendations and safety actions to improve the delivery of services to patients. The post holder will advise on the application of PSIRF to managing risk and safety.

Qualifications
* Essential: Relevant 1st level degree or evidence of relevant experience.
* Essential: Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable
* Post graduate degree or working towards (Masters level)
* Teaching and Training qualification
* Completed an accredited Patient Safety training programme
Experience
* Essential: Experience of working in the NHS in a professional/managerial/specialist role
* Essential: Experience of advising and liaising with staff at all levels, preferably in the NHS and academic institutions
* Essential: Clear understanding of the issues prevailing around clinical governance
* Essential: Experience of project management or leading a change project
Statutory Registration
* Desirable: Relevant professional clinical qualification
Special Skills & Knowledge
* Essential: Knowledge of the Health Service and current national initiatives, particularly in relation to Clinical Governance and patient safety
* Essential: Knowledge and skills relating to incident management systems
* Essential: Excellent communication, presentational, training and report writing skills
* Essential: Skills required to undertake evaluations and/or audit
* Essential: Skills in the analysis and interpretation of information
