Salary: £20.00 per 1-hour session (all locations)
About the Role
This is a casual role, ideal for experienced swimming teachers looking to work sessions on an as-and-when-required basis. The successful candidates will play a key role in enabling individuals of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, confidence, and healthy activity habits within a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
4. Deliver swimming classes/lessons
5. Provide inclusive swimming opportunities for all sections of the community
6. Work closely with Duty Officers to support successful session delivery
7. Identify and respond to the needs of individual swimmers and groups
8. Assist in ensuring equitable access to swimming programmes
9. Support monitoring of programme impact on health and wellbeing
10. Assist in developing links with schools, clubs and community groups (as required)
11. Ensure safe and effective operation of sessions, including equipment set-up
12. Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, council policies, and procedures
13. Uphold high standards of professionalism, accountability, and customer care
Hours of Work
14. Casual, agency-based hours
15. Work will be offered as and when required
16. Availability required for evenings, weekends, and public holidays, depending on service needs
Essential Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Qualifications & Experience
17. Hold a recognised Swimming Teacher qualification
(Level 2 – ASA / STA / Swim Ireland)
18. Minimum 1 year’s swimming teaching experience
Transport
19. Hold a full current UK driving licence and have access to suitable transport
OR have access to transport that enables full duties to be carried out
(reasonable adjustments considered for applicants with a declared disability)
