This position is responsible for ensuring that all plant production units operate safely, efficiently, and produce the required output according to the production plan and quality standards. The incumbent supervises Operators working on rotating shifts and provides leadership to maximize unit effectiveness. Additionally, the individual must take timely corrective actions when process or personnel issues arise.
Responsibilities include:
1. Collaborating with plant management and departments to meet daily production goals.
2. Managing operations across all areas of the facility, including utilities, production, and waste.
Leadership:
1. Providing effective leadership to maximize employee productivity and contribution.
2. Making independent decisions during off-shifts to meet production targets.
3. Approaching work with ownership mindset, considering safety, productivity, quality, and financial factors.
4. Onboarding, training, and developing personnel to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
5. Recognizing employee efforts to improve productivity and reduce costs.
6. Partnering with HR on hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
7. Developing KPIs for continuous improvement.
8. Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and 5S.
9. Performing other duties to support department efficiency.
10. Implementing and administering operational policies and procedures.
HES (Health, Environment, Safety):
1. Assisting in writing and reviewing safety procedures and work instructions.
2. Participating in safety and environmental compliance initiatives.
3. Conducting safety meetings and participating in safety programs.
4. Acting as incident commander during emergencies.
Production:
1. Willingness to work any shift, including covering other shifts as needed.
2. Partnering with maintenance on scheduling and work orders.
3. Handling permits and risk assessments for critical safety programs.
4. Assisting chemical operators and operating industrial lifts safely.
5. Troubleshooting equipment and implementing methods to reduce failures.
6. Using SAP for production confirmation and inventory management.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Minimum 5 years of chemical plant manufacturing experience preferred.
2. Knowledge of product manufacturing and materials.
3. Ability to evacuate process areas during emergencies.
4. Proper use of PPE and respirators.
5. Ability to identify operational issues and develop action plans.
6. Authorized to work in the US.
7. Maintain safety and first aid certifications.
8. Lift up to 50 pounds safely.
9. Forklift and aerial lift certifications.
Preferred Skills:
1. Strong attendance and performance history.
2. Coaching skills and safety-mindedness.
3. Proficiency with MS Office and SAP.
4. Teamwork and rescue training.
