UK Tax Compliance
* Monitor changes in UK tax laws, regulations, rulings, and procedures, and assess their potential impact.
* Identify and implement local tax requirements for the UK Branch, including review processes and documentation.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of internal controls and processes to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
* Review tax filings and maintain appropriate regulatory tax reporting policies and procedures.
* Provide support during HMRC audits and other regulatory inquiries.
* Participate in internal and external working groups on tax matters, and represent BBVA in industry advocacy groups related to CIB tax issues.
* Assist in the development, update, and maintenance of Policies & Procedures, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
* Coordinate with external tax advisors, accounting firms, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective tax compliance and risk control.
* Liaise with relevant Holding teams regarding ongoing tax matters.
* Organise the UK Tax Committee on a quarterly basis.
UK & Europe Tax Advisory
* Respond to tax-related queries and provide day‑to‑day tax advisory support to CIB business units; review and negotiate tax provisions in credit facilities across the UK and European branches.
* Assess the tax implications of CIB products and business initiatives in both the UK and European branches.
What we are looking for
We are seeking a tax professional with 5 + years of experience who will support the UK & Europe Tax function within CIB, contribute to tax compliance and advisory activities, monitor UK tax regulations, maintain internal controls, and provide tax support on business initiatives and transactions. The candidate should have:
* Proven track record in a multinational company or a Big 4 accounting firm.
* Strong understanding of UK tax legislation (HMRC compliance, Corporate Tax, and VAT).
* Experience in managing tax reporting cycles and cross‑border tax issues (including tax advisory).
* Knowledge of AI tools would be a strong plus.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of explaining complex tax concepts to non‑tax stakeholders.
* Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and adaptation to legislative changes.
* Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required; Spanish would be an asset.
The role also contributes to the transformation of Finance/Tax processes by leveraging digital and AI tools to streamline workflows.
