Brief Description
You'll help keep our nation moving every single day. A critical part of our work is the daily upkeep of the rail network. As a technician, you'll work outdoors in a team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway safe and smooth for passengers and freight.

About The Role (External)
Our technicians are the vital link between the team leader and the operatives. Specializing in Signalling & Telecoms, you'll work with equipment such as signals, level crossings, and points systems. You'll develop a wide range of technical skills across manual, electrical, and digital equipment.
Working outdoors in all conditions, safety, respect for rules, and teamwork are essential, especially working near moving trains at high speed.
Your Role in the Team
As a natural team player, you'll lead when asked, ensuring work is done safely and competencies are met. You'll model safe behaviors and challenge risks to ensure everyone's safety.

Your Skills
* Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and direct a team safely and efficiently.
* Effective communication: Ability to give clear instructions.
* Technical skills: Experience with inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal techniques in relevant disciplines.
* Safety: Role model safe behaviors, implement safe systems, and challenge unsafe situations.
* Problem-solving: Persistent in finding safe, effective solutions, and staying updated with standards and procedures.
* Willingness to learn: Continuous skill development.
* Qualifications: Ideally NVQ Level 1 or 2, or equivalent experience.

* Shifts: Including days, nights, and weekends.
* Outdoor work: Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
* Pre-employment checks: Drug and alcohol testing, medical, BPSS, hearing, and eyesight exams.
* Driving license: Category B required.
* Commute: Within 60 minutes of the location.
