Are you passionate about caring for people living with dementia? We are looking for compassionate, dedicated support workers to provide high‑quality care to our elderly residents with dignity, empathy and warmth. Full‑time and part‑time roles across a range of shifts – days, nights, weekends – are available. This role offers the chance to develop your skills in dementia care within a progressive social enterprise that values staff and patient focus. We even offer the opportunity to become an MCH shareholder.

Responsibilities

* Work under the direction of the designated staff nurse to provide nursing support, including activities that stimulate and occupy residents (games, craft, gardening, etc.).
* Adhere to the organisation’s values and be involved in planning, delivering and evaluating the care of elderly residents with advanced dementia and challenging behaviours.
* Supervise the work of new and junior staff and assist qualified members of staff in the smooth running of the home.
* Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, other services, agencies and the multi‑professional team.
* Make decisions, accept personal accountability, prioritise work and show leadership skills to other staff.
* Ensure resources are managed effectively and assist the manager in maintaining budgets within spending limits.
* Maintain clear and accurate records, keep informed of current trends in care and pass on information to the staff group.
* Assist the qualified members of staff with the smooth running of the home and assist in the organisation and management of tasks as required.
* Plan, deliver and evaluate delegated care as per individualised care plans and manage own time with organisational skills.
* Provide end‑to‑end 24‑hour holistic nursing care for residents and lead on clinical change within agreed time scales.
* Adhere to organisational relevant policies and procedures, ensuring that residents are regularly assessed and their needs are met with appropriate resources.
* Apprise senior managers of concerns, comply with health‑safety, safeguarding and organisational policies, and contribute to changes and updates as appropriate.
* Use multi‑professional team input to implement clinical audit and governance activities to promote service development.
* Accept personal accountability, work on own initiative, plan workload and use key performance indicators to maintain high quality service.

Qualifications

* Care Certificate and a minimum of 2 years experience in dementia care.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to build trusting relationships with residents, families and the multi‑professional team.
* Demonstrable leadership, prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to delegate appropriately.
* Understanding of local policies, procedures and guidance and the ability to work within these guidelines.
* Knowledge of continuing care aims and objectives, awareness of audit and research relevant to clinical practice.
* Good IT skills, analytical judgement and the ability to manage records on the shared drive.
* Desirable: NVQ 2/3 in Health & Social Care, clinical competencies, understanding the relevance of audits and experience in research and development in clinical practice.
* Physically fit to lift and hoist, manage moderate effort when providing care, and manage prolonged concentration and emotional resilience.

Benefits

* Choice of two pension schemes – the NHS Pension scheme and the Scottish Widows Group pension scheme.
* Well‑established in‑service training, one‑to‑one supervision and regular appraisals with support.
* Flexible working arrangements to support work‑life balance; we encourage staff to explore new ways of working and service development.
* Opportunity to become an MCH shareholder in a progressive social enterprise.
* Double COVID vaccination encouraged to protect staff, colleagues, families and patients.
