Overall Purpose
The Civil Site Supervisor will have a strong site Construction background with the supporting qualifications and experience. The role itself will support the operations team in the delivery of construction projects and will report directly to the Project Manager. There are Electrical and Civil Engineers allocated for technical assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities
* To support and supervise G2 Civil contractors during the construction of the projects.
* To provide cover and stand in for Site Managers as required during times of leave, absence or dismissal etc. and arrange suitable replacements.
* To oversee and support the site manager including the site mobilization and set up, through the final stages of the project and de‑mobilization.
* Liaison with the project team and provide input on selecting and hiring contractors, monitor work progress, and serve as a liaison between contractors and clients.
* Oversee the schedules and delivery dates for certain elements of the project. This can involve determining the order in which contractors work on a series of tasks, ensuring that they have available materials, and making sure contractors do not cause one another delays due to conflicting project elements. Reporting back to each project manager of issues which may arise.
* Work closely with clients, client's representatives and contractors throughout the project. This can involve accompanying the client during site visits, answering questions about construction projects and overall progress, and communicating changes between the client and contractors. Additionally, the construction site manager may present contractor questions to the client to avoid any confusion.
* Oversee and support site safety. This can include setting and enforcing standards for site and ensuring that contractors are following proper safety procedures. The construction site manager also works to minimize risk, resolve violations and potential hazards, and prepare incident reports in case of an accident or injury.
* Help coordinate and write site reports, drawings, and other necessary documents. This can include working with design to identify possible errors, determining where certain project elements can be improved.
* If required assist the Project Managers and the Site Manager (if appointed) in setting up the site including welfare provision, parking and security.
* Spend sufficient time with the Site Manager so that they understand the policies, procedures and documentation and are competent to undertake the role.
* Assist the Project Managers and the Site Manager in closing the site, returning welfare, security, office equipment etc.
* Liaise, communicate effectively and timely with G2E colleagues, clients, suppliers and sub‑contractors as required.
* Familiarise yourself with the G2E sales estimate/proposal, how sets the project budget, drawings and specifications, the client's planning conditions and contractor/supplier processes and procedures.
* Familiarise and comply with the G2E procurement process.
* Compile G2E weekly reports and distribute as required.
* Ensure supplier/sub‑contractor invoices match the PO and goods received on site.
* HSEQ – Familiarise yourself with the CPP, F10 (If required) and G2E suite of HSEQ documentation. In conjunction with Project Manager, you are responsible for site safety, welfare and security.
* Check the POW daily and advise the PM of any changes.
* Familiarise yourself with G2E Variation Order (VO) Processes and assist the PM in raising Compensation Events (CEs), Early Warning Notices (EWNs) as required.
* Provide adequate supervision to all sub‑contractors as required.
* Carry out required Quality Assurance (QA) – carry out pre‑work checks and sign off completed works checking it's to specification and the drawings. Compile/collate test certificates, reports etc. as required.
* Familiarise yourself with the commissioning processes.
* Attend site meetings as required.
* Complete audits as required.
* Photograph site works regularly and load onto the correct folder in the one drive.
* Assist in the production of As‑Built drawing and supply of documentation.
Skills & Knowledge
Desirable
* 3‑5 years working in Electrical and Civil construction
* Be able to interpret civil engineering drawings and specifications.
* Have knowledge of relevant and up to date, construction industry standards, processes and procedures.
* Have a comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and compliance on construction sites (including CDM, HSE specific guidance e.g. HSGs).
* Understanding site setting out, levelling and using basic levels.
* SMSTS and CSCS Card holder.
* Have a good working understanding of MS Word, Excel & Outlook and Teams.
* 3‑5 years as a site manager on general sites.
* Experience of both civils and electrical site work 60:40.
* Experience of planning, supervising and checking temporary works.
* Understand reading and taking dimensions from ACAD drawings.
* Setting out with GPS.
* Have a good working understanding of MS Project.
