The Chemotherapy Booking Coordinator will be responsible for providing a high standard of administrative support and a highly professional, patient focused service to haematology day unit The Chemotherapy Booking Coordinator will ensure that chemotherapy treatment is scheduled according to SBU approved protocols and Cancer waiting Times Regulations.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome
Main duties of the job
The main responsibility of this role is to book patients into haematology Day unit for their appointments. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the haematology day unit setting under the direction of the ward manager /deputy and will provide expertise in the proactive management of the patient pathway from referral to discharge, ensuring the entire pathway is managed smoothly. The post holder will ensure high levels of patient and clinician satisfaction by being an accessible, customer focused and knowledgeable point of contact on all booking related matters.

Job responsibilities
To deal with all new patient chemotherapy/treatment referrals from clinicians, ensuring that chemotherapy treatment is scheduled within Cancer Waiting Times targets. To liaise directly with the patient regarding their treatment, providing information and reassurance and managing patient expectations around the chemotherapy experience. To schedule all chemotherapy treatment on Haematology Day unit according to ABMU protocols. To plan patient treatment and unit capacity efficiently, having consideration for a range of influencing factors such as the nursing staff availability, pharmacy turnaround times, availability of blood results etc. To plan ahead and to reschedule chemotherapy when necessary, to ensure that the unit capacity is fully utilised. Undertake a chaperoning role for patients when appropriate for discussions with doctors

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
* Educated to vocational level 3 or able to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Knowledge of Relevant ABMU HB Policies & Procedures
* ECDL or equivalent computer courses
* Experience of office Procedures
* Experience of working with NHS IT systems, e.g. Myrddin, PIMS and Chemo care
* Previous experience of working in the NHS
Essential Aptitude and abilities
* Excellent Communication, Ability to reach deadlines, Ability to work as part of a team, Excellent organisational skills.
* Demonstrates evidence of self-motivation. Confident/polite telephone manner. Highly Self Motivated, Conscientious, Maintains Confidentiality ECDL or equivalent computer courses
* Knowledge of Relevant ABMU HB Policies & Procedures Compassionate nature/friendly Committed to high standards
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh

* Ability to travel within geographical area. Able to work hours flexibly.
* Satisfactory Standard/Enhanced DBS clearance including an Adults and Childrens Barred List check (if required for post)
