Job Description
1) Parish Communications
3. Develop and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the work of the church
4. Manage parish correspondence including acting as first point of contact for enquiries
5. Produce the weekly publication of Tidings – the parish weekly pew sheet
2) Administrative Support for Worship
6. Co-ordinate rotas for services on Sundays and midweek
7. Complete marriage register
8. Organise administrative requirements for weddings, baptisms and funerals
9. Co-ordinate copyright licenses
3) General Administrative Support
10. Update and manage the electoral roll
11. Organise printing requirements
12. Manage church bookings
13. Ensure that St. Bene't's, through its processing of data and information, adheres to data protection legislation
4) Building Maintenance and Development
14. Communicate to the Vicar and Wardens any concerns regarding the building including health and safety concerns
15. Communicate with contractors as required
16. Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation for the maintenance of the boiler, electrical equipment, fire equipment and the lightning conductor by arranging inspection visits
17. In consultation with the Church Wardens, maintain the Logbook
5) Financial Administration
18. Produce and process invoices as required
19. Other administrative support to the Treasurer as required
6) Safeguarding
20. Maintain up to date safeguarding records including the completion of ID checks
21. Ensure that all records kept comply with Parish and Diocesan safeguarding policies
Person specification
22. Excellent communication and people skills
23. Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
24. Proficient in office software and database management
25. Well-developed administration skills with great attention to detail
26. An affinity with the work of St. Bene’t’s and the Church of England, developing an understanding, over time, of church operations, policies and ministries
Terms and conditions
27. Salary - £16 per hour plus contributory pension
28. Working hours – part-time 15 hours per week, ideally to be worked over three days on site
29. Holiday entitlement – 25 days per annum (pro-rata)
30. Contract – permanent with a probationary period of three months
31. Line manager – the Vicar
