Our client has an rare opportunity for an experienced Bacteriology Laboratory Technician to work within their busy, proactive team based in West Lothian.
This is a permanent position working 8.45am-5.00pm, Monday-Friday, however you must also be available to work Saturday/Sundays as required (Saturday approx. 4 per year/ Sunday approx. 1 in every 9). Overtime will be paid in addition for working weekend hours.
Working within their UKAS accredited Laboratory, you will be involved in carrying out high volume diagnostic samples using PCR/ qPCR. Ensuring compliance with ISO regulations using standard operating procedures.
Essential Experience/Qualifications:
* Previous Laboratory experience within a Bacteriology/ Microbiology department.
* Culture techniques and qPCR.
* BSc and/or MSc within a Biological Science, Microbiology or related subject.
* Experience if using Vitek would be advantageous.
* An understanding of test quality control and awareness of quality systems, such as UKAS accreditation.

* Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work to strict deadlines and the ability to deal with change.
* Proven ability of working as part of a team and on your own initiative.
