About the Role
Our client is seeking a Technical Team Manager to lead and mentor a team of 11 IT support professionals ranging from junior to senior engineers, network specialists, and infrastructure technicians. What You’ll Be Doing as Technical Team Manager
As Technical Team Manager, you’ll take full ownership of service desk operations, ensuring the team delivers high-quality support across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line activities. You will:
* Oversee daily team operations, ensuring efficient resolution of support tickets.
* Monitor SLAs and KPIs to drive continuous service improvements.
* Provide performance management, mentoring, workflow assignment, and escalation handling.
* Generate performance reports and present findings to the senior leadership team.
* Act as a key liaison with internal stakeholders and customers.
* Contribute to recruitment and onboarding activities.
* Collaborate with software delivery teams on deployments and technical coordination.
* Identify opportunities for workflow automation using ITSM tools.
* Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and contribute to change and release management.
What You’ll Bring
To be successful as Technical Team Manager, you should have:
* SC clearance (or eligible to start with SC).
* Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, especially the Microsoft stack: Windows Server, Windows OS, Exchange, Active Directory, VMware, and Microsoft Service Centre products.
* Understanding of networks, particularly Cisco or Juniper devices.
* Proven experience in performance and people management (team of 5+).
* Experience with absence management, performance reviews, and workflow tracking.
* Ability to generate, analyse and present team performance data.
* Excellent stakeholder communication skills across all levels.
* Organisational skills to manage documentation and team performance tracking.
* Familiarity with ITIL processes and certifications (or willingness to achieve them).
* Experience in or exposure to Linux environments (desirable).
* Previous involvement in recruitment and supporting software teams in deployments is a bonus.
