Overview

Construction Manager (Civils bias)
Location: Glasgow / Lothian and Borders, Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway, Fife, Central belt etc.

Salary up to £73,000 per year, with a strong benefits package and excellent overtime opportunities. We also offer a pension scheme with a company contribution match of up to 10%.

37-hour basic week (Full Time / Permanent)

Additional enhancements

Overtime opportunities (subject to project and location): Saturday x1.5 hrs, Sunday x2 hrs. Business miles paid at £0.45/m up to 10,000 miles, £0.25 thereafter.

Role

The Construction Manager has a key role in the SPT business, responsible for managing Construction Management Team resource and outputs during Development, Procurement, Delivery and Closure for major projects.


Responsibilities

* Lead the Development, Procurement (Prequalification / Tendering) and Construction delivery of project scopes from concept to closure within CAPEX guidelines, across multiple projects.
* Direct management and delivery as assigned Principal Contractor to ensure regulatory compliance with Health and Safety Law, CDM 2015, and Environmental Legislation.
* Manage Environmental & Sustainability regulatory requirements via the supply chain to support SP Energy Networks & Iberdrola net zero targets.
* Oversee commercial management and administration of each work package to control CAPEX risk in line with contract terms with external stakeholders.
* Manage regulatory outputs in line with programmed milestones.
* Lead and monitor external stakeholders in line with National Standards and Specifications during design delivery.
* Manage supply, civil, electrical, cable and OHL packages to ensure safety and O&M records are kept for future use.
* Line manage and develop the onsite construction management team through coaching and mentoring.
* Contribute to HR processes for trainee Site Managers and HR procedures.
* Lead Stakeholders Quality Management to ensure budget compliance and asset life-cycle improvements.


What you will bring

Primary proven knowledge and experience in planning and managing civil works, platforms, groundworks, roads, drainage, foundations, earthing, control buildings, and structures within a Transmission substation environment. Strong ability to read civil and structural drawings and conduct inspections and testing. Basic knowledge of Electrical, OHL and Cable packages. Experience in large ducting and multi-disciplinary cabling projects is advantageous. Strong leadership and planning skills with Contract Management experience, including variations and claims. Knowledge of NEC / FIDIC Conditions of Contract. Experience managing multiple projects with external stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams. Knowledge of SPT assets, specification, design, and maintenance. Understanding of HR processes and line management responsibilities.


Minimum Requirements

* Preferred relevant Engineering Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management for the Power Sector.
* Excellent IT skills.
* Full UK driving licence
* Current five-day SMSTS qualification
